Grant Parker from GP Turbo’s dusted off his Mk1 Golf and bought it out for the Doorslammers event at Santa Pod Raceway.

It’s not been on the track for over 10 years, so this was really just a shake down. The car is running an Audi UR Quattro 20v 5 cyl 2.3 turbo engine, with a GTX 40/42 billet turbo.

It has the potential to run up to 1000bhp, but has only ran at 800bhp on the track, so far. His PB is 10.01 @ 148mph on treaded tires in 2008 !!! At the event Grant managed a few runs with a best of 10.65 @ 128mph. Watch out for this one next year, it has the potential to go deep into the 9’s.
