Who’s ready for a Golf R v Cupra Leon hot hatch drag race?!

Although they may have different names, these two cars share a whole load of features once you peer under the skin, so we’re putting them head-to-head over the 1/4 mile to see just how much performance difference they offer!

Starting with the Cupra, it’s powered by a 2-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 300hp & 400Nm. It drives the front wheels only, weighs in at 1,395kg, and has a starting price of around £35,000.

As for the Golf R, well it’s powered by the same engine, but it has an output of 320hp & 420Nm of torque! It’s heavier than the Cupra, however, at 1,550kg, and it also comes with a heftier starting price of £40,000.
