1100HP VR6 MK2 Golf Launches HARD and Chases an 8-Second Quarter Mile

1100HP VR6-powered Volkswagen MK2 Golf launching hard at L8-Night Germany during an 8-second quarter-mile attempt.

This 1100HP Volkswagen MK2 Golf is far from an ordinary classic hatchback. Built by Johannes Schnäckel of STT Turbotechnik, it runs a 2.8L VR6 engine paired with a 3.2L cylinder head for improved airflow and serious power. The latest setup now includes a Kotouc sequential gearbox with paddle shifts, transforming this lightweight Mk2 into a brutal drag racing machine capable of launching with incredible force.

At Germany’s L8-Night event, the Golf was put to the test while chasing an 8-second quarter-mile pass. With a previous personal best of 9.3 seconds, the new combination immediately showed its potential by recording a 9.05-second run before eventually dipping into the 8-second zone with an impressive 8.98-second pass. Hard launches, violent gear changes and unmistakable VR6 turbo power make this one of the wildest Mk2 Golfs ever built.
