550HP 2JZ BMW E30: A Purist’s Worst Nightmare! Acceleration & Sound by turboandstance - October 25, 2026 This 1989 BMW E30 325i takes the classic German sports sedan in a completely unexpected direction. Owned by Sean, this fully restored restomod replaces its original BMW powerplant with a Toyota 2JZ-GTE-based engine from an Aristo, combining iconic E30 styling with legendary JDM tuning potential. Running approximately 19 PSI of boost and producing an estimated 550HP, this unusual build features a custom turbo setup, a Getrag 420 six-speed transmission and an E46 steering rack conversion. Beyond the controversial engine swap, this E30 features a shaved engine bay, a striking Messing Metallic finish inspired by BMW Individual colours, a Tech 2 body kit and a carefully redesigned interior with Alcantara details. On the road, its responsive turbo setup, close gear ratios and upgraded steering deliver an experience that challenges expectations of a high-powered classic BMW. Is a Toyota-powered E30 automotive sacrilege, or is this exactly what a restomod should be? For more content like this one follow us also on Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram!
