Jaymie from Officially Gassed returned to Germany with his heavily modified SEAT Leon Cupra, determined to finally unleash the near-1,400 HP AWD monster at the legendary Late Night drag racing event. After a year of upgrades, including a new crankshaft, clutch, custom prop shaft and Turbosmart electronic wastegate, the Leon was more powerful than ever. But the weekend quickly turned into a battle against boost cuts, throttle issues and mechanical failures.

After the electronic wastegate failed, the team went to extreme lengths to find a replacement, even paying €728 for an Uber to meet them halfway across Germany. Despite getting the car back on track, further problems eventually damaged the transfer box and ended the team’s racing plans. The Leon never managed a clean pass, but Jaymie’s chaotic return to Late Night delivered huge power, spectacular drag racing and a reminder that at nearly 1,400 HP, keeping a car alive can be just as difficult as making it fast.
