New BMW 3 Series Revealed: Did BMW Just Fix Everything?

New BMW 3 Series M350 alongside the all-electric BMW i3

The new BMW 3 Series has arrived with a major design and technology overhaul, but BMW is also launching the all-electric i3 alongside it. Although the two cars share the same Neue Klasse-inspired styling, including the slim headlights, new kidney grille and BMW Panoramic Vision system, they use very different platforms underneath. The petrol-powered 3 Series retains a chassis based on the previous generation, while the i3 is built on a dedicated electric platform.

The new 3 Series range includes a 2.0-litre turbocharged 320 producing 211hp and 330Nm, while the range-topping M350 gets a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six with 443hp and 580Nm. The electric i3 starts with a 170hp single-motor version, while the i3 50 xDrive produces 469hp and 645Nm from its dual-motor AWD setup. With prices ranging from £44,975 for the new 3 Series to £66,785 for the M350, the big question is whether BMW has managed to make its latest 3 Series generation the complete package.
