Fastest Lambos v Fastest Tesla: DRAG RACE

Can a £52,000 electric SUV actually take down a Lamborghini? We’re finding out today in a massive Lambo vs EV drag race!

Mat’s behind the wheel of the Smart #5 Brabus, and it’s punching way above its weight class. But does it really stand a chance racing up the Carwow drag race strip? Let’s check out the other contenders.

First up it’s going head-to-head with a Lamborghini Huracán Performante. It packs a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 with 640hp and 600Nm. It weighs a tiny 1,482kg – nearly a tonne less than the Smart! It’s also more than 3x the price, costing around £185,000.

The next contender will be the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. It’s equipped with a 6.5-litre NA V12, and this creates 770hp and 720Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a single-clutch 7-speed gearbox, and it costs an eye-watering £450,000!

Following that, we’ll have another EV – the Tesla Model S Plaid! It’s packing 3 electric motors, and they combine for 1020hp and a massive 1420Nm of torque. It tips the scales at 2,190kg, and it’s worth around £80,000.

Finally, we have the most powerful Lamborghini there is – the Revuelto! A 6.5-litre NA V12 paired with 3 electric motors for a total of 1015hp and 1062Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch, and it weighs in at 1,872kg. It’s also the most expensive car here, rolling up with a £455,000 price tag!

Will the Smart #5 pull off a miracle? Will the SVJ’s flames be enough to scare off the EVs? Or will the Revuelto prove that internal combustion (with a little help) is still king?
