Two Honda Civics were involved in a dramatic incident at Santa Pod Raceway this weekend, with one of the cars becoming airborne during a high-speed run.

The incident took place during the busy racing action at Santa Pod, where the FIA/FIM European Finals were being held from September 10 to 13. Santa Pod is celebrating its 60th anniversary season in 2026, with the European Finals forming one of the venue’s major events of the year.

Video footage shows the two Civics accelerating down the drag strip before the situation suddenly turns ugly. One of the cars appears to lose stability further down the track and is launched dramatically into the air, while the other Civic continues through the run.

The airborne Civic can be seen rotating as it travels down the track, creating an extremely worrying moment for spectators watching from the side of the strip. The footage then cuts to the aftermath, with the Santa Pod track and safety crews dealing with the situation.

At this stage, the exact cause of the incident is not known at the moment but at least the drivers got away with it.

The crash is another reminder of just how quickly things can go wrong in drag racing. Even highly prepared race cars can become extremely difficult to control when something goes wrong at high speed.
