The 2026 Haltech World Cup Finals at Maryland International Raceway is already delivering incredible performances! On Day 1, Victor Alvarez made headlines by setting a new K-Series front-wheel-drive record with his Honda Civic Goldie. Meanwhile, Sake Bomb, the insanely fast Lexus driven by Eric LaFerriere, reached an incredible 267 MPH, setting a new fastest speed record for the event. Some of the quickest import and domestic drag racing machines have gathered in Maryland, and the records are already falling!

Despite nearly seven hours of rain delays, the opening day still delivered plenty of spectacular qualifying action as teams worked to dial in their cars for the weekend. From extreme front-wheel-drive Hondas to record-breaking high-speed monsters, the World Cup Finals once again demonstrates why it is one of the biggest events in the import versus domestic drag racing scene. And this is only the beginning, with three more days of racing still to come! For more content like this one follow us also on Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram!
