Shelby GT500 Go-Kart?! This Stripped Mustang Runs 10.1 Seconds!

Stripped-down 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Skeletor drag car with exposed bodywork and supercharged V8 power.

A 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 has been transformed into one of the wildest drag strip machines imaginable. Nicknamed “Skeletor,” this stripped-down Mustang started life as a lightly damaged auction car before an accident changed its future completely. Rather than restoring the original bodywork, its owner turned the wrecked Shelby into an outrageous lightweight drag racer inspired by the stripped-down Chevrolet builds competing at the track. Beneath its skeletal appearance, the car retains its factory supercharged 5.8-litre V8, with a tune and extensive weight reduction helping it deliver serious quarter-mile performance.

Despite its radical exterior, Skeletor retains surprising amounts of factory equipment, including air conditioning, power steering and much of its original engine hardware. A T56 transmission replaces the original gearbox, while a Holley Terminator ECU manages the engine. Running Mickey Thompson ET slicks, the Shelby has already recorded a personal best of 10.1 seconds at 134 mph, with its owner targeting a nine-second pass before moving on to an even more ambitious twin-turbo setup. It may look like a go-kart built from Mustang leftovers, but this bizarre GT500 is a serious drag strip contender.. Don’t forget to follow us also on Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram!
