Who Makes the Strongest Engines? Mercedes vs Toyota vs Land Rover

Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes ML and Land Rover Discovery lined up for a brutal engine durability test to determine which SUV has the strongest engine.

Toyota, Mercedes or Land Rover? Which manufacturer really builds the strongest engines?

To find out, three high-mileage SUVs are pushed to their absolute limits in a brutal engine durability test. The contenders include a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Land Rover Discovery 3 and a Mercedes ML, with each vehicle being subjected to full-throttle punishment to see which engine can survive the longest.

The Land Rover Discovery 3 is powered by a 2.7-litre V6 producing 190 hp and 440 Nm of torque. With 256,000 miles on the clock, the £1,500 Discovery is already a veteran of the road.

The Mercedes ML brings a 2.7-litre five-cylinder turbo diesel producing 163 hp and 400 Nm, while the Toyota Land Cruiser arrives with a 4.7-litre V8 producing 235 hp and 434 Nm. The Toyota has already covered an incredible 282,000 miles.

These three SUVs are no longer considered roadworthy, but that makes them perfect candidates for one final test. With the engines pushed to full throttle, the question is simple: which one will keep running the longest?

Will the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser prove once again why Toyota engines have such a strong reputation for durability? Can the Mercedes diesel survive the punishment? Or will the Land Rover Discovery surprise everyone and outlast its rivals?

There is only one way to find out. 🔥
