Mercedes-Benz M-SEC Restomod! 500HP AMG V8 in a Classic SEC Coupe Acceleration & Sound by turboandstance - November 7, 2026 What happens when one of Mercedes-Benz’s most beautiful classic coupes meets the performance of a modern AMG V8? The result is the incredible Mechatronik M-SEC, a thoroughly reimagined Mercedes-Benz SEC based on the legendary C126 generation. Retaining the timeless design originally created under Bruno Sacco, this exclusive restomod combines classic Mercedes elegance with the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre AMG M156 V8, producing an impressive 500 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. With carbon-fibre body components, bespoke styling and modern engineering, the M-SEC takes the iconic 1980s super-coupe into an entirely new era. Mechatronik has gone far beyond a simple engine swap, completely dismantling and restoring the original car before upgrading its suspension, drivetrain, interior and exterior details. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, while Öhlins suspension and modern Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres help transform its driving dynamics. The video explores two different versions, including a more luxurious GT specification and a sharper, lighter performance-focused variant. With only 30 examples planned, the Mechatronik M-SEC is a remarkable blend of old-school Mercedes character and modern AMG performance.
